Supplying artwork
Artwork formats
Although the directory studio produces the majority of artwork from customer´s instructions, artwork can be provided directly from the client or via a third party.
Accepted programmes
The formats that we would like adverts supplied to us from customers are as follows:
Adobe Illustrator. This is the best format to supply adverts to us, but if anybody does they must convert all fonts to ‘outlines´ and ‘embed´ any images contained within the document, if they do not then they have to supply all images and all fonts that are used in the document, in the same folder as the supplied advert.
Adobe Photoshop. This is perfectly acceptable providing the image is no less than 300dpi, anything below this resolution will be rejected. They must also flatten the artwork so no layers or fonts are contained within the advert, failing this they must supply fonts once more in the same folder as the advert.
Quark Express. If people use this package they must again supply all fonts and images as there is no option to embed either in this document. It actually says that you can embed these items in the program but this does not work when we come to convert the Quark file into an acceptable pre-press advert.
EPS files. We can accept these providing all images and fonts are supplied within the same folder.
PDF files. These will only be accepted if the PDF has had fonts embedded when created.
We can also accept ai, psd, tiff and jpeg files.
The following formats, if supplied to us will be rejected:
- Microsoft Word - (Text only can be provided in this format)
- Microsoft Powerpoint
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Publisher
- Corel Draw (or any other Corel programs)
